An X-ray of the artist’s right ankle, revealing two surgical screws implanted following a skateboarding injury at the age of 15. Once aspiring to become a professional skateboarder, the injury brought an abrupt end to that ambition and ultimately his participation in the sport. The image serves as a melancholic reminder of teenage fearlessness, the loss of a formative passion, and the physical consequences of pursuing it. Though skateboarding is no longer part of his life, the freedom, independence, and willingness to take risks that defined those years continue to inform his approach to life and creative expression. The ambition ended. The fearlessness remained.
