An experimental music instrument developed by Mounir through the reprogramming of Teenage Engineering’s Yeezy Stem Player SP-1 hardware. Conceived as a marriage between the stem player and the traditional tape machine, Stem Tape transforms a portable audio device into a tactile instrument for musical manipulation. The project introduces independent stem control, variable-speed playback, looping, and experimental transport functions, allowing recorded music to be deconstructed and reinterpreted in real time. Developed through an iterative process of software engineering and hardware experimentation, Stem Tape reflects the artist’s interest in industrial design, sound, and the reinterpretation of existing technology. An ongoing exploration of the relationship between listening and creation.
